Tetracycline is an FDA-Approved, prescription broad-spectrum bacteriostatic antibiotic, which is used to treat dogs who suffer from bacterial infections, leptospirosis, toxoplasmosis, and many diseases caused by ticks, including Lyme disease, ehrlichiosis, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, and salmon poisoning. It is also used to treat cats who suffer from ehrlichiosis. Tetracycline is administered orally in tablet form.
Side Effects & Warnings
Contact veterinarian if your pet experiences nausea, loss of appetite, diarrhea and vomiting, depression, fever, and hair loss, photosensitivity, pustules or blisters on skin. Shield your pet from the sun. Immediately contact veterinarian if pet experiences an allergic reaction to the medication, signs may include facial swelling, hives, scratching, sudden onset of diarrhea, vomiting, shock, seizures, pale gums, cold limbs, or coma.
Administer Tetracycline to the exact specifications prescribed by veterinarian. Try to give Tetracycline orally without food, but the food may reduce side effects. Do not give with milk. Make sure pet swallows tablet, so as not to cause esophageal damage.
