Previcox is a prescription COX-2, non-narcotic, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), for dogs suffering from arthritis, osteoarthritis, and lameness. The COX-2 inhibitory ingredient firocoxib, blocks only the COX-2 enzyme, which is responsible for pain and inflammation of the joints. While other NSAIDs may block the COX-1 and COX-2 enzymes, Previcox allows the release of COX-1 enzymes to maintain support of kidney health, stomach lining and platelet production. Previcox is intended for dogs 7 weeks and older and 12.5 pounds and over.
