Product Description
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a condition often associated with advanced age. According to recent data 1 out of 3 cats will develop CKD in his lifetime. It is also common for senior cats to develop other age-related conditions such as reduced mobility or cognitive dysfunction which can significantly impact the quality of life of both the cat and the parent.Degenerative joint disease (DJD), is a common condition in senior cats, and causes pain and inflammation in a cat's joints. Studies have shown that DJD is so common that 90% of cats over the age of 12 years suffer from DJD. Cats hide their pain very well, so well, that parents may not recognize the signs of joint disease. Some of these signs include being less active while awake, or sleeping more than usual, behavior which cat owners see as "normal" considering the age of the cat.As cats grow older they might suffer from cognitive dysfunction. The behavioral signs of cognitive dysfunction tend to become clearly noticeable in cats that are 10 years of age or older. The signs include spatial disorientation; wandering away from home into unfamiliar territory; lack of interest in playing; excessive sleeping; altered cycles of sleep and wakefulness; long periods of staring blankly into space or at walls; indifference to food and water; urinating and defecating outside the litter box; and seemingly unprompted episodes of loud vocalizing, frequently in the middle of the night.Nutrition can play a key role in managing these age-related conditions. That is why Hill's nutritionists and veterinarians developed new Prescription Diet k/d+Mobility for cats. This clinical nutrition not only supports your cat's kidney function, but also helps to improve his mobility and increase his cognitive alertness and vitality. In fact, the nutrition of k/d is clinically tested to improve & lengthen quality of life.
Hill's Prescription Diet k/d+ Mobility feline is a complete and balanced food that provides all the nutrition your cat needs. Please consult your veterinarian for further information on how our Prescription Diet foods can help your cat to continue to enjoy a happy and active life.
Animal feeding tests using AAFCO procedures substantiate that Hill's Prescription Diet k/d + Mobility Feline provides complete and balanced nutrition for maintenance of adult cats

Directions
Adjust feeding amounts as necessary to maintain optimal weight. If you are unsure, ask your veterinarian. For best results & safety practices: Gradually transition to your pet's new food over a 7 day period. Exclusively feed the recommended Prescription Diet dry food, canned food & treats. Keep fresh water available at all times. Have your veterinarian monitor your pet's condition. Begin the transition by mixing both the current food and their new cat food together. Gradually decrease the amount of the current cat food while increasing the amount of new cat food. Continue to do this over a 7-day period. Transitioning slowly can result in fewer digestive issues and better acceptance of the new cat food. Mix 25% of the new food in with 75% of the current food for the first 2 days, then mix 50% new food with 50% existing food for the next 2 days, then mix 75% new food with 25% current food for the next 2 days. By day seven, you can feed your cat 100% new food.
