Is PetPlus insurance?

No, PetPlus is not pet insurance. It is a comprehensive benefits program designed to help save pet parents time and money in all areas of their pet’s care. Unlike even the best pet insurance, PetPlus has no exclusions for pets with pre-existing conditions; there are no claims forms, limits, or deductibles. And it is simple to join.

How do I know if my pet qualifies for PetPlus?

All dogs and cats qualify for PetPlus -- no exclusions for pre-existing conditions.

How much does PetPlus cost?

The PetPlus Plan costs $139.95/year per pet.

How do I add or remove pets from my membership?

How do I cancel my subscription?

When you join the PetPlus Plan, you are given the option to purchase your membership on an annual or monthly basis and you are automatically enrolled in our recurring billing program. You may cancel at any time by contacting our customer service team, but you will not be refunded for any unused days on your membership if you choose to cancel prior to the end of your billing cycle.

You may cancel your PetPlus membership at any time without penalty if you have not utilized any of your PetPlus benefits (including discounts on products and/or services). For customers charged on a monthly basis, if you have purchased products or used services using your PetPlus benefits, we will charge a $25 administrative fee per membership cancellation if the membership is cancelled within three months of enrollment.

How long does it take to activate my PetPlus benefits?

Activation starts immediately, and you’ll be able to start saving on any mail-order cat or dog medications right away. Typically, it will take 1-2 business days for your pet prescription plan membership to activate with all PetPlus partners (including store pharmacy pickup). Your PetPlus card will typically arrive in 5-7 business days, but if you’d like to use it before that you can print a temporary card here. for any other questions about activating your petplus online pet care membership, call customer care at 1-866-893-0306.

Placing an order

How do I order pickup or delivery medications?

First, search for the medication your pets need on On each page, you’ll be able to see the various dosages and quantities available in the drop down menu, as well as the PetPlus member price for each. Deliverability depends on the item -- some dog meds or cat meds are available for both delivery AND in-store pickup, whereas others might only be attainable by delivery OR in-store pickup.

Typically, the pickup option is the less expensive alternative when both options are present, and PetPlus always defaults to the least expensive option. However, you are free to choose whatever option is most convenient. Once you have selected the medications and delivery options, simply proceed to checkout and place your order. Easy peasy.

Who dispenses my medications?

PetPlus is not a pharmacy. PetPlus partners with National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) accredited pharmacies such as CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, and PetCareRx to fulfill your pet prescriptions. Orders dispensed through online mail-order will be directed to PetCareRx, and those through in-store pickup will be dispensed at the local Caremark network pharmacy of your choice.

Why aren’t all products available for in store pickup?

Certain dog medications and cat medications are not carried in Caremark network pharmacies. For example, most flea, tick, and heartworm protection is not typically sold in retail pharmacies. If your cat or dog medication is not available in-store, PetCareRx will ship it to you free of charge.

How do I check on the status of my order?

If you placed an order for delivery, simply enter your order number into the order tracking page on the PetCareRx site.

If you placed an order for in store pickup, please pick your order up at a local participating retail pharmacy. Remember to bring your pet’s prescription and PetPlus card to the pharmacy.

What do I do with my prescription?

To pick up your dog meds or cat meds in-store, simply bring your pet’s original prescription to the pharmacy.

For any mail-order medications, our partner pharmacy PetCareRx will verify the prescription with the veterinarian you provided at checkout. Alternatively, you can also mail your pet’s prescription to PetCareRx at: Prescriptions

How do I dispose of medicines if they are no longer needed?

If you have any cat medications or dog medications that you no longer need, please follow the FDA guidelines on how to dispose of medicines.

What is your return policy?
PetPlus Return Policy

At Pet Plus, we are not happy unless you are 100% satisfied. You can return any unopened, non prescription, or non-personalized products within 30 days of the order date to the pharmacy it shipped from. To make the return process as smooth as possible please follow the steps below:

  1. Contact our Pet Specialists at 1-800-844-1427 with the order number being returned and explanation as to why.
  2. Our Pet Specialists will then verify if then return is authorized and make the necessary notations on your account.
  3. Once you have returned the products, you must call us back with the return tracking number so that we may track the return and issue your refund when received.

Please note refunds make take up to 10 business days to reflect on your bank account once processed. Refunds are processed once the package is received.

In store pickup

How do I pick up my pet’s prescription at a pharmacy?

After making a purchase for in-store pickup at, you will need to bring both your pet’s prescription and your PetPlus card to the pharmacy at which you are picking up your order. Inform the pharmacist that you are picking up a prescription for your pet and have a pet prescription benefits card. You should NOT be charged at the pharmacy for your purchase. Within 2 days of your pickup, your PetPlus account will be charged for the purchase of the cat or dog medications you ordered.

What if the pharmacy is trying to charge me for my pet’s prescriptions, even though I already paid online?

DO NOT PAY IT. We can help. If you experience any issues at the pharmacy, please call customer care at 1-866-893-0306.

How do I find a participating local pharmacy?

PetPlus has over 60,000 local participating pharmacies through the Caremark network, including CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Walmart, Target, and many more. Find a participating pharmacy near you.

Can I still fill my pet’s prescriptions through PetPlus if my pet’s veterinarian isn’t on the list of vets that accept the 25% off discount on services?

Absolutely! Legally valid pet prescriptions from ANY vet can be filled through the Caremark network of local participating pharmacies or online through PetCareRx.
